The successful candidate will be an excellent storyteller who is always learning. Two years prior experience in photojournalism preferred. We are looking for someone who has the skill to gather news on a day-to-day basis, but also the ability to excel in long-form storytelling projects. There is an opportunity with our investigative team for the right person. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and be able to lift and carry 35-50lbs for an extended period of time. Prior experience operating live trucks is preferred. News Reporter: WISC-TV, Southern Wisconsin’s number one news station in Madison, is looking for an enterprising general assignment television news reporter with the ability to tell compelling stories. Duties include turning stories on a daily basis, live reporting, and covering breaking news situations. We are looking for a creative storyteller who has the ability to find enterprise stories and deliver them to multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will be both skilled at working with a photographer and as an MMJ depending on the daily assignment. In addition to our television newscasts, we place a strong emphasis on our award-winning website, htpp://www.channel3000.com, our social networking efforts, and our growing mobile digital content. We expect this position to provide on-going content contributions to all offerings. This position requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record and could involve weekend and evening hours. Candidates for consideration will have a bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field, hard news experience, 1-2 years news reporting, the ability to turn stories on deadline, and live reporting experience. Prior anchoring experience is a plus.
News Producer: WISC-TV is actively searching for a News Producer to help lead our team at the #1 rated station in Madison. We need a newsroom leader with a proven ability to deliver a high-quality, high energy newscast which appeals to our local audience. Specific duties include working closely with the Executive Producer and Managing Editor to determine content needs and story ideas on a daily and long-term basis. The ideal candidate will write clearly for multiple platforms, including our website. Social media proficiency is required. The newscast producer will work with reporters and photographers on story development, and lead our Production staff with technical presentation of the newscast. Other duties include writing topical promotions, setting up live shots, editing and posting content to our website. We need a creative thinker with excellent news judgment who can deliver relevant and compelling stories every day. We prefer applicants with 1 year experience and college degree. Broadcast Engineer: WKBT-TV is accepting applications for a full-time broadcast engineer with an emphasis on digital video to support its technical broadcast operations at its recently remodeled and updated facility. Daily responsibilities include support of SDI video, digital audio, and broadcast related equipment. Associate degree or higher in electronics, broadcast technology or relevant work experience required. SBE Certification is a plus but not mandatory. Applicant must have experience in operating and maintaining studio, control room, ENG gear, and be familiar with IT equipment. Applicant must also be able to troubleshoot technical problems quickly and efficiently and must be able to communicate effectively in a team environment. Sports Photojournalist: WKBT News 8 is hiring a part-time Sports Photojournalist. We will train the right applicant to record and edit highlights for our nightly sportscasts. Hours per week range between 10-25. Most shifts occur in the late afternoon and evening. Must be available Friday nights along with some weekends and have an excellent driving record. We take pride in our coverage of local high school sports and area college athletics. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start their career in broadcasting and/or a big sports fan who is excited about the possibility of having a part-time job that takes you to various local sporting events.
Floor Crew: WKBT News 8 is hiring part-time Floor Crew Members for 2 shifts, our Morning (4:30 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.) and Noon (11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) Newscasts and our Evening and Weekend (4:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. & 9:00 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.) Newscasts. Hours per week range from 20-30. This a great entry level opportunity for someone who is looking to start their career in broadcasting or is willing to learn multiple skills required to work behind the scenes in a fast paced environment.
